MILNACIPRAN AND FIBROMYALGIA


Milnacipran is described as the first in a new class of antidepressants, agents that act as both norepinephrine (noradrenaline) and serotonin reuptake inhibitors (NSRIs).

Exciting information about fibromyalgia (FM) pathophysiology, clinical aspects, and emerging treatment options was presented at this year's American College of Rheumatology (ACR) 71st Annual Meeting. This information further confirms the role of CNS dysregulation in the etiology of the condition and the beneficial effect of emerging neuromodulatory agents on various symptom domains of FM.
